A cast copper-alloy Roman trumpet brooch. Behind the oval head is single central perforated lug for a missing spring mechanism. On top of the head is an incomplete integrally cast chain loop. The head is decorated with two symmetrical cells that may once have contained enamel, though none remains. Midway down the bow is a globular moulding with worn incised decoration and a knurled rib above and below it. The lower half of the bow is decorated with two vertical rows of four sub-triangular enamel cells, some of which still contain the paste. The small forward foot knob has a transverse rib above it. Behind the leg is a complete catchplate with a length of 17.4mm and a maximum width of 8.2mm. The length of the brooch is 43.2mm, the diameter of the head is 10.1mm, the width is 18.8mm and the weight is 8.04g.
