SCRAPER (TOOL)

Unique ID: WAW-CF6AE6

Object type certainty: Probably
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

The object is probably a type of scraper. The scraper has been knapped from a mottled dark brown coloured flint. In plan the scraper is a sub-circular shape. The dorsal face (the face with the most scars) has retouch around the side and lower edges. One edge with re-touch is quite steep which makes it difficult to be used as a scraper. The ventral face (smooth face) has no retouch, but has bulbar scars where the flint was struck. The scraper, with the striking platform at the top, is 35.1mm long and is 36.6mm wide. It weighs 21.2g. If the object is a prehistoric scraper it probably dates to the Neolithic or Bronze Age periods, approximately 2500 to 1500 B.C.
