Fragment of a cast copper alloy sword belt fitting or mount of Post Medieval, seventeenth century date (AD 1600 - AD 1700). Length 26.5mm, width 27mm and 2mm thick. Weight 6.18g. The fragment is slightly convex at the front and is plain at the rear. there are two integral suspension loops. However, most of one of these is missing and there are, consequently, two old breaks. There is also an old break at one end of the piece. The complete mount would have had three suspension loops with separate hooked fitting suspended from each. The front face is decorated with a moulded foliate design which is worn. It is corroded and in poor condition with a patchy brown patina. The metal is a reddish colour.
