The butt end of a copper-alloy probably middle Bronze Age axe, with the beginning of side flanges and casting seam visible. Probably from a palstave type axe, measuring 22mm in surviving length, 23mm in width and 10mm in thickness. The butt end is squared and not sharp. The break appears ancient and worn. The surface is badly corroded with a mixture of corrosive products and encrustations appearing as pale green and brown areas over a dark brown patina.
