Fragment of a cast copper alloy chafing dish of probable Late Medieval or Early Post Medieval date (AD 1400 - AD 1700). Length 30mm, width 55mm and maximum thickness of body 1.4mm. Weight 35.01g. The fragment is part of an everted and thickened rim and also includes a dish support. When complete, the vessel rim would have had a diameter of about 190mm. The dish support extends 17mm above the rim. It is rectangular in cross-section, flat at the front and sides and concave at the rear (when viewed from the side). The top is slightly curved rather than being flat. The fragment is in good condition and has an even mid green patina overall. The breaks are old.
