A copper alloy knife or razor handle in the form of a three-dimensional leg and foot. The foot is wearing a sandal represented by ribbed moulding running down the centre of the foot, encircling the ankle and on either side of it extending to a flat sole underneath the foot. The foot appears to be wearing a sock represented by herringbone patterned incisions. These herringbone pattern incisions continue up the leg, covering the calf and end in a notched circumferential moulding. This moulding appears to represent the top of the sock. Above this the leg is smooth and expands, ending mid-calf. The leg is hollow and divided into two hollow hemispheres, with a vertical slot between. The handle measures 40mm in length. The foot has a length of 20mm. The leg has a width of 9mm.
This is the third known example of this type and all examples have been recorded by the PAS. Identical razor handles were found at Piercebridge, County Durham [NCL-920745. Illustration no. 203] and Whitchurch, Hampshire (SOMDOR-4F6FB3). The sock on the example from Piercebridge is more clearly rendered than that on the Cambridgeshire and Hampshire examples.
