Copper alloy brooch fragment. Cast trumpet brooch, Mackreth type TR. A trumpet head appears to have been hollow behind; the bow is constricted below it, expanding with a moulding which does not pass all round the bow, a mid-bow moulding, and another like the first. The lower bow is lost. Fiercely abraded, with an appearance which might suggest prolonged submersion. Suggested date: Early Roman, 75-175
Length: 32mm, Width: 11.7mm, Thickness (crest of bow): 3.4mm, Weight: 4.64gms
