An incomplete copper alloy strap fitting, of Post Medieval date (c. AD 1500-1700).
The strap fitting consists of a sub triangular plate with two rivet holes and a hook perpendicular to the plate formed by bending over the narrowed end of the plate. The face is moulded slightly convex with the reverse slightly concave through the centre. Across the front of the plate is a single transverse line below the rivet holes.
The metal has a mid-green abraded patina. Slight iron corrosive material is present around the rivet holes.
The fitting is 30.3mm in length and 12.9mm wide. The plate is 2.6mm thick and thickness including hook is 6mm. It weighs 2.8 g.
Similar strap fittings have been recorded on the PAS database. Such as: BERK-934D2B, BERK-C632F2 and IOW-BB07C9.
