Gold noble,appears to be standard type A (North 1975, p30), worn and damaged around the edges, probably Edward III post treaty period, 1369-77 or Edward IV, first reign heavy coinage 1461-1465. Its weight is equivalent to 105.6 grains, the nobles from Edward IV heavy coinage were 108 grains and this is the closest weight to our example. (North, 1975, 65, no 1527).

Obverse description: King standing facing in a ship, crowned and wearing armour, holding shield in left hand, quartered with the arms of England and France, and a sword in the right hand.
Obverse inscription: [ ]AQ[ ]
Reverse description: Florinated cross with a lis at the end of each limb and an ornamental compartment, containing the Kings initial , unclear but appears to be an 'E,' in the centre, in each angle a lion passant, guardant, with a crown above, all within a tressure of eight arches.
