Cast copper-alloy radiate-headed brooch, comprising part of the headplate and bow. The radiate head originally had five half-round knobs projecting from its upper edge; two of these are missing and the central one is incomplete. The headplate is decorated with opposed pairs of running spirals. The bow has a central longitudinal ridge. A single perforated lug on the reverse of the headplate acted as the attachment for the iron spring and pin mechanism, which now survives only as a small area of iron corrosion. Worn transverse break at base of bow.

Parallels to the spiral decoration can be found in silver from Fritton, Norfolk (NMS-8FD211) and in copper alloy from Mill Hill, Deal (Parfitt and Brugmann 1995, no. 92g, p. 43, assigned to Werner (1961)'s Douai type) and Marchélepot, France (MacGregor 1997, nos. 65.5 and 65.12). Werner's Douai type is dated to the first half of the 6th century AD, but grave 92 at Mill Hill appears to be slightly later (Kentish Phase III, 530-570 AD).
