A cast copper-alloy post Medieval decorative leather strap mount with a convex acorn-shaped plate, 37.2mm in length. The moulded details include a cross-hatched cupule, stalk stump and a knopped tip. The reverse is concave with a pair of integrally cast hooked attachment rivets.
Notes:
The use of the acorn as a symbol (variously allegorical of virtues including independence, patience, modesty and chastity) is part of an early post medieval fashion for badges ultimately derived from medieval armorial charges (Maslin, 2021: 4).
