RING

Unique ID: SF-51D346

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

A copper-alloy ring measuring 28.6mm in external diameter and 17mm in internal diameter with a flattened hexagonal cross-section. The back face is flat and the front face has two circular grooves along the inner and outer edges. This ring is difficult to date and it could be Roman or later in date as parallels can be found from all periods. The function of such rings is elusive they may be associated with belts, perhaps acting as crude buckle frames, sword-harnesses or horse-harnesses.
