A fragment of a late Iron Age or Roman cast copper-alloy terret. It is probably a knobbed terret. This fragment measures 37.4mm in length and c. 4.7mm in thickness. In section the hoop is the shape of a triangle with rounded corners. Towards the end of this fragment there is an integral knob, 11.6mm in width and 9.4mm in thickness. It is supposed that terrets were used as rein guides, although there is no obvious associated wear on this fragmentary example. The ring has been twisted, though, towards one of the points of break.
