Copper alloy hair pin, dating to the early post medieval period (Circa 1610- 1625). The hair pin is rectangular in section, and tapers to a point (end) which is rounded. Both the sides and faces of the pin are flat. The eye of the pin is rectangular in shape with two tranverse linear grooves above and below it. The top of the pin is pointed. Above the rectangular eye of the pin there is a incised line followed by a pierced circular hole, which is proceeded by a further grooved line and another hole, this is were beads would have been attached to.

Notes:

This pin has dutch origins in style, which came across to Britian in the 17th century (Opgravingen in amsterdam, Fibular-Van Dishoeck 1977: 217-219)
