A late medieval or early post-medieval copper-alloy buckle. Asymmetrical and double-loop, one loop is sub-rectangular, with a convex upper surface and slightly bevelled inner faces. The other loop is roughly D-shaped, with the outside edge pointed externally. It has two slightly oblique grooves, one to either side of the pin rest, in the centre of its outside edge. The two loops are separated by a bar of semi-circular cross-section. There are two moulded knobs at either end of the bar, both pairs projecting from the frame. The buckle is lacking a pin and has a flat underside. It measures 29.23mm long by 25.4mm high and 2.6mm thick. It weighs 5.6g.
This buckle can be compared with a close parallel from the Mary Rose, which sank in 1545 (Gardiner 2005, no. 80A 0712, fig. 2.83).
