A copper-alloy penannular brooch dating to the Roman period (Fowler type A3). The brooch ring is plain and circular in section. It extends to spherical, collared terminals of Fowler's A3 type. The pin is intact and has been bent into a slight arch, suggesting use. The pin comprises a rectangular section strip of copper alloy which tapers and then flattens into a lozengiform point. The brooch has a diameter of 18mm; the ring has a thickness of 2mm. The pin has a length of 26mm. The brooch weighs 1.6g. Mackreth 2011, 213 notes that this type does not run into the fourth century AD.
The brooch is very small in size and it is possible that it was not used functionally. It may be a votive artefact.
