A copper-alloy split spike loop, dating to the Roman period. The object is made from a rectangular section strip which becomes circular section at the loop. It was probably used to secure a handle to a box or other small furniture. The split spike loop measures 44mm in length, 10mm in width at the loop end and 3mm at the spike end. It weighs 4 grams.
