A complete early medieval silver penny of Edward the Confessor (1042-66), small flan type (North 818) dating to c.AD 1048-50, mint: Shrewsbury, moneyer: Wulfmær. Ref: North 1994: 179.
The coin is worn but complete with some cracking at the edge of the flan.
Notes:
The coin is probably die-linked to two coins in the Norwegian Collection published by Screen (2015, Plate 191, nos 3677 and 3678).
It is also only the second coin of Edward the Confessor recorded by the PAS from the Shrewsbury mint (see FAJN-94A3E9).
