An incomplete Roman copper-alloy Aesica brooch, dating to c.AD 25 - 75. The upper bow and wings remain, the lower bow, catchplate and pin are missing. The cylindrical wings are undecorated and hollow, the spring pin is missing. Projecting from the wings is a curved trapezoidal plate which is decorated in the centre with a foliate design. The lower corners terminate in globular knops. The fragment tapers slightly in the centre and terminates in a knop, which would have joined to the lower bow. The rear is undecorated.
