An incomplete, Medieval to Post Medieval cast copper-alloy double-loop annular buckle, dating c. AD 1350-1650. The buckle frame is circular with a central bar creating two back to back D-shaped loops, with D shaped cross section. Part of the pin is still in situ, held firm by corrosion products.
Dimensions: Diameter: 20.9mm; thickness: 6.0mm; weight: 2.19g.
Buckles of this form and size are difficult to date but a range from contexts spanning the mid 14th-mid 17th centuries is shown by Egan and Pritchard (1991:65-67).
