An early medieval silver early penny (sceat) of Primary Phase Series E (Variety G3; Naismith Series Ec), dating to c.AD700-20, mint: Netherlands (probably Domburg or Dorestad). Ref: Metcalf and Op den Velde 2009: 28-31; Naismith 2017: table 4.
Obverse description: 'porcupine' formed of plain curved line with two pellets on line at right-hand end, below which two straight lines form a triangle with the curve. Below the curve, and only partially on the flan, are a diamond shape and zig-zag; above the curve, eight gently curving lines with a pellet end.
Reverse description: standard with beaded border, central pellet in annulet, two short pellet-ended bars, small cross pommee outside standard.
