Copper alloy possible mount fragment, as kindly suggested by the finder. A narrow cast D-section or plano-convex strip with a possible collar at one end separating it from a narrow concavo-convex ‘bowl’, a feature which might suggest a function as a small recent cruet spoon. However, white metal plating [or gilding - see below] appears only on the convex side of the object, confirming its placement as a mount with the flat side against its setting. Darkened by treatment with oil by the finder. Suggested date: Early Medieval, 750-850
Length: 23.6mm, Width: 7.6mm, Thickness (at ‘stem’): 1.9mm, Weight: 1.07gms
