An incomplete copper alloy Late Iron age Colchester brooch, Mackreth type C 2 dating c. 40BC to AD43.
Tiny pointed wings are surmounted by the worn stub of a forwards-pointing hook, below this is another short circular-sectioned hook projecting outwards from the centre of the lower edge. The plain narrow bow of oval section tapers towards a plain pointed foot. There is no discernible trace of spring or catch plate. Suggested date: Late Iron Age, 40BC-AD43.
