An incomplete copper alloy rotary key of probable medieval date (c.AD 1150-1400).
The bow is flat and lozengiform, with a flattened tubular projection for suspension at the top corner. Four circular perforations are present in the bow, positioned irregularly. Internal diameter of the holes is 3.2mm. The stem is integral to the bow and is denoted by a double rounded collar at the junction between the bow and stem. The stem is hollow and incomplete with a portion missing from one side. At the base of the stem is the incomplete bit that projects from the stem at a right-angle and has a tall foot to create a L-shape. The edges are worn, rounded, and irregularly shaped, which suggests it is incomplete. Overall the object has a light green patina with portions a dark grean / brown surface.
