Copper alloy unidentified object fragment; the finder kindly suggests this to be part of a clothing fastener. Cast plate, broken on all its edges, bearing a probably symmetrical anthropomorphic motif of paired eyes as oval doubled rings with three ridges suggesting a nasal bar between them. The back is plain, so a function as a mount might also be entertained. Among fasteners, this recalls the lower part of a cruciform brooch, though there is no trace of pin gear. The object may be gilded though thisis concealed by treatment with oil or Vaseline.Suggested date: Early Medieval, 500-850
