A bent and slightly abraded probable Medieval to Post-Medieval lead pencil or 'writing lead'.
This stylus is round in section along the entire length, which tapers to a point. There is light abrasion across the stylus but no evidence of deliberate decoration.
This object is bent at an acute angle, causing the lead to flatten at the bend.
Notes:
Lead styli are usually considered to be of medieval date, perhaps used as often for on-site tasks demanding functional literacy as for more formal writing tasks.
