An incomplete, copper alloy, Roman, nail cleaner, AD.100-450. The object comprises the top end of the nail cleaner, from the suspension loop to mid-way down the plate. The circular suspension loop is integrally cast and set perpendicular to the alignment of the plate. Below the loop are a series of waisted collars, mirrored either side of a central subspherical section, forming the handle of the object. Beneath the last collar is the flat plate, it flares outwards for c.10mm before tapering back down again towards the point, though this has been lost. The front surface of the plate is decorated with punched decoration, running down the outer edges are small, closely punched circular indents. On the inside of these are small, closely punched C shapes with the opening facing the edges of the object. Running down the middle of the plate is a line of reversed inverted L shapes, one above another, just touching to form a continuous wave pattern.
