A lead alloy pendant of Medieval to Post Medieval date (c. AD 1250-1700). The pendant consists of a small cross shape with horizontal and vertical arms of almost equal length. The terminal of the upper arm has a is perforated to create a suspension loop. The surface is a mottled light grey and cream colour. The pendant measures 29.43mm long, 21.68mm wide, 6.58mm thick and weighs 10.66g.
This pendant is likely a cross pendant, which may have been carried as a personal symbol of one's religious beliefs, or as an apotropaic device to ward off evils spirits and demons. Similar parallels can be found on the database at YORYM-0670C5, LIN-05BCE7, NLM-18A6C8 or NLM-F4C47C.
