Cast copper alloy Post-Medieval buckle, c.AD 1500-1700.
Cast copper alloy sub-rectangular double looped buckle frame with fragment of its central bar. The frame has rounded edges and is broken in one place; the frame has a raised section at the cross-section, possibly to ensure that the leather strap does not move too far across the frame. The metal has survived well, which suggests a modern date.
The size of this buckle implies this was used with horse gear.
