A copper alloy book or strap fitting, probably post medieval (c. AD 1550 - 1800). It comprises a rectangular plate with a plano-convex section, this steps down to an asympetical pointed tip. The reverse has two laterally placed attachment studs, both intact except for the points, both bent outwards. These attachment studs appear to have been soldered in place.
Length 44 mm, width 18 mm, thickness 2 mm and weight 9.5 g.
