Copper alloy disc brooch of the Late Saxon period, with cast Borre-style decoration comprising a concave-sided figure with each of the four corners extended to form interlaced, double-strand knots. On the reverse the pin lug is set parallel to the edge and the catchplate lies at a right angle to the edge (an Anglo-Scandinavian arrangement). A very small amount of the curled over point of the catchplate is missing. Kershaw 2013, 56 - 65, East Anglian Series Type I. Diameter 27.4mm. Thickness (excluding pin fixings) 1.7mm. Weight 6.9g. 10th century.
