An incomplete post-Medieval lead-tin alloy (pewter) buckle (c.AD 1660-1720).
The frame is oval in plan with multiple grooves at the front, the rear is flat and bevelled internally. The top and bottom edges are swollen at the centre where there are pyramidal knops. The knops are drilled to accommodate an iron spindle, the remains of which survived; the pin has not survived. A similar buckle with multiple grooves has been published and dated c. 1660-1720 (Whitehead 2003, 98, ref: 608).
