A medieval silver short cross cut quarter penny (farthing) of Henry III (1216-72) by the moneyer Ilger from the London mint. (Ilger struck coins of classes 5b -7b for both monarchs during the period c.1204-42). The obverse is generally illegible, though the lack of pellets in the hair however would point to a class 7. Dating thuse possibly 1217-1236. The reverse depicting a short cross with a quatrefoil of pellets in the angle and an inscription of +ILG[ER ON LVND/E]
