The remains of a copper alloy Medieval buckle and complete plate dating from AD 1200 - 1500. It is not possible to determine the Meols type because only the bar of the buckle frame survives. The plate is a long rectangle of sheet copper alloy folded round the bar with a slot for the pin and recessed corners. It is not decorated, however the ends are in the form of two triangular extensions to the sub-rectangular plate (or has a V-shaped notch cut in the end). There are two copper alloy rivets, one in each of these triangular extensions. Part of the pin survives, and it is D shaped in cross-section, bent into a loop round the bar. The plate has a mottled green/brown patina on both sides. The buckle remains and plate are 27.5mm long, 16.1mm wide, 3.4mm thick and weighs 4.56g.
