A Roman copper alloy penannular bracelet (AD 2nd century). The bracelet has moulded decoration on approximately half of the outer surface, the inner surface and the last third on each of the 'arms' are undecorated. The decoration comprises a section of a series of circular pits arranged evenly in lines; then sections of three ribs and a transverse band of circular pits repeated before terminating in a repeat of the first section of circular pits. As the decoration ends the bracelet tapers in diameter from 6.52mm to 3.59mm and the cross-section changes from oval to angular. These undecorated sections have clear file marks visible. The 'arms' have expanded conical terminals decorated with spiral grooves. Dark brown patina. The moulded decoration is very similar to that on Trumpet-headed brooches that date to the second century. Dimensions: length: 56.51mm; width: 52.64mm; diameter: 6.52mm; weight: 24.89g.
