A set of Medieval to Modern shears consist of two blades long thin triangular blades that have a rounded but that narrows the thin square cross-section handed. At the end of both handles is a connecting flat loop that not only joins the two sides of blades together but also forms the spring mechanism for the shears.
Shears are often undecorated or simply decorated, but whose shape changes little between the Medieval and Modern periods, with many examples illustrated in medieval manuscripts depicting sheep shearing, such as the Duke du Berry Book of Hours (1405). Therefore a broad 1200-1900 AD date is suggested.
