A cast copper-alloy strap mount of post-medieval date, probably dating to the 17th century.
Description: The mount is formed from a thin pointed oval body. It is concave and rises to its highest point towards the middle. At each end is a fleur de lis shaped terminal. On the reverse integral rivets are present about half way up the central petal of the fleur. The reverse of the body is hollow while the fleurs have solid, flat backs. Each rivet remains as worn studs and are probably incomplete. It has a mottled pale green and brown colour.
Measurements: 51.62mm long, 15.47mm wide, 6.05mm thick (including rivets, 3.86mm without rivets) and 4.54g in weight.
