Silver coin. Probably a three halfpence of Elizabeth I (1558-1603), third coinage, dated 156[1-5], in very fine condition, but bearing deliberate scoring behind bust, perhaps to enable the coin to be passed off as a halfgroat.

Obverse description: Bust left, deliberate scoring behind head, mintmark Pheon (53).

Obverse inscription: E.D.G.ROSA.SINE.SPINA

Reverse description: Long cross, shield of Arms of England and France, date over shield: 15 6[-]

Reverse inscription: CIVI/TAS/LON/DON

Diameter: 16.7mm, Weight: 0.73gms, die axis: 6
