A complete cast copper-alloy toy in the form of a miniature cauldron of medieval to post-medieval date c. AD 1400 - 1600.
The object is a miniature tripod cauldron which is circular with a flared rim, waisted neck and bulbous body with a slightly flattened base. Three, equally spaced, circular sectioned tapering legs, now very worn stubs, project from the base of the vessel, not all complete. The vessel has a single angular handle attached to the rim and shoulder
Height 22.02 mm; Width 32.53 mm and Weight 30.81g.
Discussion
Similar examples have been recorded on the PAS database including YORYM-6AF87C, YORYM-7C6E57, SWYOR-A69E3B, LVPL-FDC6C7 and WMID-E6F6E4. A comparable example is also illustrated in Forsyth & Egan (2005), p.111, no.2.6 which is described as Type 1, Design 2 dating to the 15th - 16th century."
