Fragment of a Roman copper alloy Colchester Derivative Hinged brooch with an old break, the lower part of a bow with a fantail foot inlaid with red enamel. Mackreth 2011, CD H 7.63. The scrolls-and-lozenge motif reserved on the enamel ground is very close to that on ibid. 90, pl. 59 nos. 2861 and 2866,  "common type [which] has, reserved in the enamel, a pelta hanging from a lozenge which is frequently itself filled with enamel." The catchplate has lost its curled over edge. Extant length and width 23.6 and 14.9mm.  AD c.60 - c.150.
