Cast copper alloy mount, Post Medieval. Most likely for a casket rather than for a book.
Cast straight-sided bar with sloped sides and a flat upper face. There is a recessed section of the bar at the thinner end of the bar, which ends in a knop. The sloping sides ends in a wider section with straight sides and a flat face; there are two annulets decorating either corner. The mount ends in a rounded plate that is concave in the centre, with raised annulets on either side, forming a geometric pattern. The area where this mount would have attached to a larger hinge has broken off.
The reverse is flat and undecorated with the remains of two mounting pins, one at either end.
