BUTTON

Unique ID: DEV-0DA1C8

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

A post medieval copper alloy "Dandy" button dating to AD 1700-1800.

The button is circular in shape and flattened in section, with the raised central base for the shank present but the shank itself damaged and missing. The perimeter of the button itself is also damaged and ragged. This does not affect the apperance of the decorative design,  which is composed of a central multi-pointed star which may be intended to resemble a sunburst, placed within a series of swirling designs composed of multiple iterations of four parallel curving lines. The original silver plating/wash is present in the indentations of these designs.

Measurements: 23.3mm diameter, weight 4.71g.
