An assemblage of eight post medieval musket balls and smaller shot dating to c. AD 1600-1700.
One larger musket ball appears to have been fired, with a compression and irregularity in its surface. The remainder appear unfired. They range in size from 17.9mm to 10.1mm in diameter and 35 to 5.7g in weight. The smallest shot may have been intended for handguns or pistols while the larger shot could have been used in muskets although their weight is slightly short. Foard (2008) does, however, point out that smaller shot would have been effective in larger bore weapons and that an irregular sized selection of shot is characteristic of a possible Civil War site.
