An incomplete Neolithic polished stone Axe, dating to c. 3450 - 2350 BC. The lithic is a polished volcanic stone probably from the Langdale region. The tapered butt of the axe remains. The object is trapezoidal and lentoid in cross section. It has an off white creamy patina. The faces of the axe are heavily polished. The butt tapers from the break to a blunted point. The axehead terminates in a transverse break.

The object is a Langdale polished Axehead, called such due to the source of the raw material the axehead is made of. The Langdale tuff's in the Lake District are soft, volcanic deposits and polished axe-heads from this source are found throughout the country.
