Medieval or post-medieval copper-alloy leg from a cooking vessel. It is rectangular when viewed from the front or rear and generally trapezoidal in transverse cross-section, having two broad faces (front and reverse) and two narrow faces (the sides). The reverse is the narrower of the two broad faces. It is flat transversely but slightly convex longitudinally. The front is the widest face and is divided into two slightly concave facets by a prominent central longitudinal ridge. The leg expands very slightly in width from the worn break at the top to the flat base. It also expands or flares forward in thickness (concavely when viewed from the side), from about halfway down from the break to the base. The angle between the rear and the base is about one hundred degrees. Viewed from the below, the front edge is concave from corner to corner. The central toe, which would have developed from the longitudinal ridge, is missing to a worn break. The leg is patinated light green and bears traces of soot on all non-nonbroken faces. 13th to 17th century
