Copper alloy dog tag. Milled disc with rim. One side bears a motif of crossed fronds [?or dog leads, or tails?]with the number 9 above it and an interpolated legend: HELP MY /PALS and a circumferential legend: THE TAIL-WA GGERS CLUB. The other side bears a reference number: 622539 and the smaller inscribed legend [modern capitals]: WATSON/THE MANOR/HOUSE/?MUNSELL/SOUTH. An even smaller circumferenrtial legend includes: [--]ROYAL 130853/[---]LONDON EC[-]. A hole is drilled at 12 o’clck, the tail-waggers part of legend respects this hole and so it must be deemed integral to the function of the disc. White metal plating traces appear on the side bearing the dog owner’s address. The club was founded in 1928 by Captain Horace Hobbs and raised funds for veterinary work.
