An incomplete cast copper-alloy probable harness mount/fitting or furniture fitting of post-medieval date c. AD 1500-1800.
In the centre is a convex circular boss in the form of a fleur de lis, delineated by openwork. Surrounding the central boss is the plate with concave edges interspersed by trilobed knops; the plate is decorated with a regular pattern of four pellets (two in a transverse row and two in a longitudinal row) within a bowed triangle. At two parallel points, above the fleur and below, are rivet holes, one is now torn and missing its rivet, the other retains its circular copper-alloy rivet (9.45 mm in diameter) that passes through the plate and extends out the reverse (14.72 mm in height). The reverse has a hollow boss, the reverse of the decorative central elements. The object has a silvery sheen, probably the remains of a white metal coating.
Diameter: 62.20 mm; Thickness (plate to boss): 13.37 mm; Weight: 45.13g
