An Early Medieval glass wound bead dating to c.AD 450 - 700. The bead is circular in plan and almost D-shaped in section with central circular perforation. The matrix of the glass is dark blue with opaque yellow trailing.
It is made from dark blue glass with yellow detail

Dating of beads and often be tricky due to overlapping types and wide use of simple or crude designs. The shape, colour and style of this bead are comparable with those from Early Medieval graves. Thanks are extended to Alan Burchell and Jo Ahmet for assisting with the identification of this bead.
