A cast copper alloy quatrefoil Medieval (c 14th century) copper alloy armorial harness pendant, 49.9mm in length. The plate is 40mm wide with four rounded lobes with small pointed lobes in the cusps between. The arms are incised into the metal and depict a sword crossed with a key upon a plain cross. The surface of the cross and the rim have traces of tinning; there are no traces of enamel. The suspension loop is round and intact.
The crossed sword and key are the symbols of St Peter and St Paul as are seen on the arms of Bishops of Winchester. This suggests an attribution to a cleric or member of the Bishop's household. Comparable finds include DEV-F7CB4D, BERK-51DFE3, DEV-9EA68D and SUR-DFDD03.
