An incomplete cast copper-alloy pin probably dating to the Early-Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) period (AD 700-900). The object comprises a globular spherical head decorated with deep spiralling grooves known informally as 'wrythen-headed'. The shaft projects from the base of the head. This is circular in cross-section and possibly features a very worn transverse collar blow the head. The shaft terminates at an old worn transverse break. The surface patina is light green and mid brown in raised areas.
The pin measures 11.7mm long. The head is 6.6mm diameter and the shaft 3.6mm diameter. The object weighs 1.61 grams.
